Doha, 20 February 2013 - The all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan has arrived in Qatar, offering more interior space, power and technology, with more than 20 new standard features compared to the previous model including automatic parking assist and numerous other features that make this, the third-generation CTS sedan grows, ascend to the top of the midsize luxury market.
The all-new 2014 Cadillac CTS sedan was unveiled by representatives of Mannai Auto group and Cadillac Arabia at the Qatar Motor Show, being held at the iconic Qatar National Convention Center in Doha.
During the launch, Mr. Mohammed Helmy, Group General Manager, Mannai Auto, said: “With an all-new design The Cadillac CTS directly enters the field at the top of the luxury midsize range. It offers uncompromised performance, luxury and technological innovations that truly revolutionize the segment. We have already seen significant interest from customers in the new CTS and expect the first consignment of cars to be sold out very fast.”
“The CTS, with its top of the line features, is available in a range of packages which allow drivers a truly unique and tailored driving experience.” said Bader El Houssami, Regional Manager- Qatar, General Motors Middle East.
In addition to the standard package, the 2014 CTS comes with two optional packages – Luxury and Performance – offered with either the 2.0T turbocharged four cylinder or 3.6L naturally aspirated V6 engine in either rear- or all-wheel drive. Selectable drive modes will also allow drivers to adjust the vehicle’s performance dynamics for touring or sport driving.
Customers choosing the 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder engine, paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, can expect 272 horsepower and acceleration from zero to 100 km/h in 6.1 seconds – 1.5 seconds faster than the outgoing model.
An eight-speed automatic transmission with new paddle-shift controls in rear-wheel-drive models is standard on the naturally aspirated 3.6L V-6, which is rated at an estimated 321 horsepower. A six-speed automatic comes standard with the all-wheel drive version.
Standard front Brembo brakes with ferritic-nitro carburizing, or FNC, anti-corrosion rotors give CTS braking performance that Cadillac expects to be best in the segment. Magnetic Ride Control, the world’s fastest-reacting suspension is now standard on base models with 18-inch wheels.
Inside, all CTS models are equipped with CUE, Cadillac’s breakthrough system for connectivity and control featuring an eight-inch fully reconfigurable touch screen. CUE brings tablet-like functionality into the CTS with functions such as haptic (touch sensor) feedback to confirm selections, proximity sensing to reveal hidden icons, gesture recognition and capacitive touch. A display on the instrument cluster allows the driver to control radio, phone and navigation functions through steering wheel controls without having to take his eyes off the road.
For those who enjoy their music whilst driving, the CTS comes with an 11-speaker Bose premium audio system. Users will have several options for streaming portable media devices with three USB ports and one auxiliary and SD card port.
The new CTS sedan offers Automatic Parking Assist, which enables the car to park itself in parallel spaces. It uses ultrasonic sensors to locate a suitable space and maneuver the car into the space, with the driver only required to engage reverse and apply the accelerator and brake pedals. Ultrasonic rear park assist is standard.
Ultrasonic sensors, as well as radar and cameras, support the CTS’s advanced safety features to help prevent crashes. Among the most sophisticated is Front and Rear Automatic Braking, which relies on short-range radar technology and ultrasonic sensors to help the driver prevent front and rear low-speed collisions via a progression of alerts that extend to complete braking, if necessary.
A Driver Awareness Package includes Cadillac’s patented Safety Alert Seat technology. It uses vibrating pulses in the driver’s seat to alert the driver to an imminent collision or to vehicles in the car’s blind spot. The seat vibrates on the left or right side, or both sides simultaneously, depending on the direction of the risk.
In the 2014 model, a longer, lower and more athletic-looking proportion is introduced to Cadillac’s landmark sedan. While stretched in overall length and wheelbase, the all-new CTS sedan has a lower curb weight than the preceding model. Lightweight features, including Cadillac’s first aluminum door structures, contribute to the lower weight and a 50/50 weight balance
Cadillac’s engineers hail the third generation CTS a breakthrough in vehicle engineering. Greater use of structural adhesive and aluminum reduces the overall weight of the all-new CTS sedans, contributing to better ride and handling and reduced cabin noise in both models.
The new CTS uses 117 meters of structural adhesive – more than the length of a football field – as a bonding agent that holds together and stiffens load-bearing parts and components. This also provides a damping effect, which reduces the transmission of vibration through the body structure. That pays off in fewer squeaks and rattles reaching a driver and a much quieter cabin experience.
These advanced techniques, in addition to the use of high-strength steel and efficient geometry helps make the new CTS sedan 40 percent stiffer than the previous model. Aluminum was used extensively to save weight. For the first time, all four doors are constructed of aluminum compared to the steel doors on the previous generation CTS. This makes the all-new 2014 CTS the lightest vehicle in its class, which lends to better handling and more effective power.
This third-generation CTS sedan is based on the high-performing rear-drive architecture of the award-winning ATS sport sedan. Excellent power-to-weight ratios and racetrack-honed suspension geometries established with the development of the ATS enabled engineers to advance CTS’s performance with greater feelings of feedback, control and response.
And for the first time on the CTS, Magnetic Ride Control, Cadillac’s real-time damping system, is standard on base models.
Cadillac’s iconic shield grille and signature vertical lighting elements – including LED front signature lighting detail – evolve on the CTS. The grille is wider, with a more detailed texture, while the headlamps flow up with the hood line, incorporating crystalline LED light guides.
Inside, a roomier, driver-centric cockpit interior with integrated technology and hand-crafted appointments complements the exterior and supports the CTS sedan’s driving experience. Eight available interior environments are offered, each trimmed with authentic wood, carbon fiber or aluminum. Leather seating is available, including available full semi-aniline leather, with hand-crafted, cut-and-sewn executions.
The CTS sedan seamlessly blends comfort, convenience and safety technologies with the interior’s hand-crafted appointments and flowing design. Active safety features provide alerts and intervene when necessary to help avoid crashes. These include General Motors’ first application of automatic safety belt tightening which is offered in the new CTS. It automatically takes slack out of the safety belts when buckled and offers real-time, active adjustments during driving to ensure optimal tension and comfort.
The new CTS sedan also features 10 standard air bags, including front-passenger dual-stage low-risk deployment, which makes the most of the air bag trajectory and inflation rate based on the occupant’s size, position and severity of the crash.
